Thien-An ‘Andy’ Vu Pham Obituary

Thien An Pham, better known as Andy, 40, of Denver, CO, passed away on August 13th, 2024. A graduate of VCU and masters candidate of Clemson University, Andy was a senior packaging designer. Outside of work Andy was an avid skier and adventurer, including backcountry skiing, pheasant hunting with his dog, and fly fishing. He was brilliant and curious, always picking up new hobbies like RC cars, cooking, artistic design, and playing any and all instruments. He was a gifted child pianist in VCU’s Suzuki piano program at just 4 years old and at 8 yr old he was a black belt in Tae kwon do. He was humorous and always knew how to make his friends laugh. But his most impressive skill was creating community and building relationships. He made many friends across the country from Richmond to Clemson, Connecticut to Colorado.

Andy is survived by his beloved German short haired pointer, Tippet; mother, Thaininh Pham; father, Xuan Pham; and sister, Claudia Tranchau Pham-Newton.

A visitation for Andy will take place on Friday, August 23 from 5-7pm followed by prayers until 8:30pm at Bliley’s Funeral Home (8510 Staples Mill Rd, Richmond, VA, 23228). Light refreshments will follow. If you would like to provide a eulogy we will present them at 6pm.

A Vietnamese Catholic Mass will take place on Saturday, August 24 from 10-11am at the Church of the Vietnamese Martyrs (12500 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA 23238).

The burial ceremony will take place on Monday, August 26 at 11am at Mount Calvary Cemetery (1400 S Randolph St, Richmond, VA 23220).
